When the cool ductwork comes in contact with the hot, humid air in the crawlspace, condensation can accumulate all around the ductwork (similar to the condensation around a glass of ice water when you walk outdoors in the summer).

When moisture levels are elevated, wood destroying funguses, such as brown and white rot fungi can come to life and progressively break down the cellulose in the wood. This cellulose break down can lead to the subfloors and floor joists of the home losing much of their structural integrity, ultimately resulting in costly repairs.
